  • They employ 30 salespeople on the East Coast.
  • Salespeople earn commission for sales in their territory. However, many territories overlap or are shared between salespeople, which makes calculating sales commission complicated.
  • Data was sourced from an in-house designed enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.

The Situation

Our client is a US-based wholesaler selling granite and stone to builders and kitchen and bathroom companies. They are based on the East Coast and employ 30 sales people.

  • To keep the sales team motivated, our client wanted to pay commissions fortnightly.
  • The compensation plan was new and the company wanted to protect employees from volatile sales in the early stages.
  • Using Excel required a lot of administration time and made fortnightly pay cycles too difficult. The manual process was also prone to human error.
  • Data was sourced from an in-house designed enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.

Performio was chosen as the preferred vendor because of the software’s flexibility. At the time the contract was signed, Performio did not produce fortnightly commission payments.

Our Approach

Our client’s main goal was to use Performio to extract data from the in-house designed ERP software, calculate commissions fortnightly and produce transparent commission reports.

Their data was housed by a software system developed in-house so there wasn’t an off-the-shelf API to interface with Performio. This meant Performio developers had to provide a high level of custom coding.

The software is configured so ERP data is loaded nightly. Calculations run in a few minutes to produce the commission statements. Fortnightly periods are locked after the payments are processed to payroll.

Most importantly, the process was fully automated for our client.
